DIY “Rosie The Riveter” Costume {With A Cause}

I don’t consider myself a feminist. Mainly because I call on my hubby and sons to open jars, reach high shelves and move heavy stuff ALL THE TIME! I know that God gave men better upper body strength and I fully intend to make use of it 🤣

I do believe that women are so much tougher than we get credit for, and can do a lot of HARD STUFF! This is the message that I’m always sharing with Lucy Claire, which is why I have always loved the iconic images of ”Rosie the Riveter.”

If you aren’t familiar, Rosie the Riveter is a 1940’s World War II icon adopted from a poster produced in an effort to employ women to go to work in blue collar jobs while the men were at war. The “We can do it” movement had double purpose, to keep the economy moving and to produce war supplies. This is a super easy DIY costume to throw together for lots of occasions with items you already own, but if you don’t and need a good chambray top, or red polka dot headband, you can find them here: http://liketk.it/3pxP2 Lucy Claire and I had fun re-creating the 40’s hairstyles and bright red lips! Find the hair tutorial we borrowed from Cherry Dollface here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IH4KWLiyuK4 There are lots of ideas and tutorials available on https://www.pinterest.com too!
